Elevate your work piece 10" with these 10"x10"x10" riser blocks. No need to continue stacking 246 and 123 blocks. Often times, parts can be reduced down to 2 sets up utilizing risers to access side features. Do as much work as possible in the first bottom operations, then flip over to reach all exposed sides from a single top operation. Reduce your setup time and increase your efficiency, setup to setup, with these risers. Geared towards the growing 5 axis router market, these risers are made from 6061 to keep weight manageable at 37 lbs as well as cost. They are machined to within +/-0.001" on the height, with a parallelism of less than 0.001". A series of 1/2-13 holes are form tapped with 1.25" on center to accommodate various work holding methods. Top and bottom plate are 1.4375" thick, with 3/4" up rights. The center of the blocks have been sandblasted then machined to add a uniform finish to them.
“Gimbal head” or “2 axis head” or “articulating B/C head” machines, are where the workpiece stays stationary on the machine table with both rotary axes mounted to the Z-axis ram, rotating the spindle assembly. (B and C-axis) This set up is traditionally used on larger machines where moving the workpiece is not practical. These machines do suffer from clearance issue in regards to the Z limits being set in a fashion where the head cannot crash into the table. “Center of spindle to table distance” is measured when the spindle is positioned with B-axis at 90 degrees and the Z axis is lowered until alarming out. Any workpiece that has holes, pockets, or other features on the side of a part, must be elevated higher than the center of spindle to table distance. If the spindle needs to be tilted beyond 90 degree (91 up to 120 degrees) to reach features, the workpiece will need to be elevated even higher!
